The 11plus in Sutton (Selective Eligibility Test)
The London area has a large population and so demand for grammar school places is always very high. London grammar schools and the 11+ selection process is separated into different London areas and this includes Sutton. The Sutton grammar schools are amongst the most competitive schools in the country for entry into year 7. In the past there may have been as many as ten applicants for each school place.

With demand so very high in Sutton it is important that you know the admissions process for grammar schools and the exam content. Your child must be well prepared for the Sutton 11+ exam as there will be a lot of competition for places.
There are more grammar schools in Sutton than eg Kingston-upon-Thames, but demand outstrips supply.

The 11plus exam in Sutton for Grammar Schools have the same exam. The exam is set in two stages.

Stage two – Maths and English exam that is written by the school.

For both schools the exam is written by GL. There will be papers covering the following topics:

There may also be a school written paper covering both Maths and English in additional to the GL written 11+ paper. Some schools may use other 11+ tests. Check the school website for details.

Like many other London council areas parents who wish for their child to attend these schools must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and return it within the stated time span. You should contact the school or council directly for full details. You can follow links on the council websites to the various schools.

Parents should check admissions criteria with each school as these can change. Some Grammar Schools may have geographic restrictions on who can apply while others have an open entry system.
