Choosing a school for your child is an important decision and the 11 plus exam (11+) will play a part in your choice of school. The 11+ exam in Lincolnshire is operated by the Grammar Schools, as a consortium, the LEA appears to have no involvement in the testing procedures. Grammar schools in the Lincolnshire Council area cater for children who are deemed by means of the 11+ exams to be in the top 25% of the ability range.
Lincolnshire Grammar schools use eleven plus exams prepared by NFER (National Foundation For Educational Research.)
For entry to secondary school or grammar school in September of
the following school year children will usually sit their 11 plus
exam in the autumn term of their last primary school year.
Children may take the following eleven plus tests:
Coaching is strongly discouraged and pupils get two practice papers for familiarisation purposes prior to the actual eleven plus exam.
The tests are marked, the scores standardised and results issued after parents have chosen their secondary or grammar school. Approximately 25% of pupils will transfer to grammar school.
